Chris' 10th Birthday Cake

Chris' 10th Birthday Cake

Chris' 10th Birthday Cake

I'm not a great baker but I do love my son and I wanted him to have a birthday cake for his special day.

Since we couldn't afford to buy one, I decided to give it a shot, on my own. I used Duncan Hines Super Moist Dark Fudge Cake mix. I simply followed the directions on the box and baked it in a standard 9 X 13 teflon pan.

After it cooled, I frosted it with Duncan Hines Chocolate Frosting and wrote on it with light green, decorating icing.

I have to admit that it wasn't near as beautiful as a store bought cake, but it tasted much, much better than a store bought cake! Everyone must have loved it because it lasted for only about one day.

I think the next time though, I'm going to get some fancier pans and learn how to make a prettier cake (now that I know I can actually bake one, without burning down the kitchen).

Thanks to Duncan Hines for making my son happy!
