Chocolate Bundt Cake Recipe
Here is a chocolate bundt cake recipe you might want to try!
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup butter (that has been softened)
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3 cups white sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk (some people have reduced the milk
by 1/4 cup and replaced it with 1/4 cup of light sour cream)
Preparation:
- Preheat your
oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan. Sift the flour,
baking powder and salt with the cocoa and then set the entire mixture aside.
- Cream the
butter, the sugar, the shortening and the vanilla in a large bowl until it
becomes light and fluffy. Add the five eggs -- one at a time. Make
sure to beat well after each egg is added.
- Then add the flour mixture --
alternately with the milk. Mix everything well.
- Pour your
batter into 10-inch bundt pan. (As some people have noted, you will probably
have too much batter. You can always bake a small, extra cake with the
batter you don't need).
- Bake it at 325
F for about 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into cake comes out
clean.
- Once it's done,
let it cool for at least 10 minutes in the pan and then put it on a wire rack to
allow it to finish cooling.
To get the best out of this chocolate bundt cake recipe you might want to try
to alter some of the ingredients slightly the next time you bake it to make it
even more moist. One cook added a box of chocolate pudding mix to the
recipe and substituted buttermilk for regular milk. The result was said to
be a super moist cake!
As far as how to serve it, you cannot go wrong with some powdered sugar
sprinkled on top and a serving of vanilla ice cream like the picture above!
