Caramel Cake Recipe

Looking for a caramel cake recipe? The soft chewy light brown candy, was first developed in America in the late 1800s by pioneers tinkering with older recipes for English toffee. The main ingredient is made by heating sugar to its melting point and adding water, milk, or cream.

Although it is delicious on its own, it is also very good as a topping for other desserts or as flavoring in cakes.

With practice, almost anyone can become good at making the delightfully chewy substance for their own desserts. Common mistakes for people making it from scratch for the first time include burning the sugar or making it too gooey and wet to remain a separate layer. When making this dessert it is useful to have a candy thermometer on hand to assure that the sugar is heated to just the right temperature.

Here's a version that has 10 ingredients and bakes for 25 minutes.

This one uses 9 ingredients, with a baking time of 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees F.  Be sure to follow the instructions carefully and you should have yourself a wonderful treat!
