Black Forest Heart Cake

by Karen
(Florida)

Make a special child happy with a Black Forest Heart Cake. I made this cake for my niece and she was thrilled with it. Not only is the Black Forest Heart Cake moist, but the heart shape makes it special.

The cake is easy to make, especially if you have heart shaped cake pans. If you don't have them, use round cake pans and cut out the shape of a heart with a serrated knife.

Use a rich, fudgy, chocolate boxed cake mix. Prepare it according to directions. Pour the batter into 2 cake pans and bake.

Place the first layer on a cake plate and put 3/4 of a can of cherry pie filling on the layer. Next, add the second layer and put a light layer of icing on top. Use your favorite recipe. I used a fluffy boiled icing that was tinted pink. To finish the cake, add the remaining cherries right in the middle of the cake.

This cake makes a beautiful presentation and is delicious. For Moms with a busy schedule, this cake takes very little time, but is well worth it!
