Beautiful Castle Cake
My daughter decided on unicorns on the theme for her fourth birthday party. She and I decided this castle cake would be perfect in purples and pinks.
I had made all previous birthday cakes with special pans. This one I made 4 round cakes, 2 were about 5" and 2 were about 7" or 9". I bought the plastic towers and covered the cone parts in frosting I dyed with food coloring and then rolled in sprinkles.
I also made the fondant out of a recipe I found online for marshmallow fondant. I also used food coloring to make the fondant purple. The marshmallow fondant tasted so much better than regular fondant! Everyone raved about it!
I also made all the little tiny pink flowers that I placed around the whole cake and around the windows and doors. They were made with fondant and a small flower cut-out. I let them dry overnight and then kept them for a few days in an airtight container. I attached them with a tiny bit of frosting.
Editor's Note: Than you very much Cat. The cake looked fantastic and your detailed instructions will help other Moms when they are making a castle cake for their daughter.
