Banana Cake


Banana Cake is a derivative of banana bread, a classic American favorite that reached the peak of its popularity in the 1960s. Equally popular in Australia and New Zealand, banana breads and cakes are renowned for being easy and inexpensive to make.

Recently, new variations have evolved that incorporate dried fruits, chocolate banana bread/cake, and use peanuts, peanut butter, caramel, yogurt, or pineapple.

Banana is a versatile flavor that is pleasing and inoffensive in combination with many other flavors. Traditionally, banana breads and cakes are iced with a cream cheese or mascarpone cheese frosting, which helps bring out the full flavor of the fruit.

With 15 ingredients and an hour baking time, this recipe is a little more complex. It does feature a wonderful cream cheese frosting that contains butter, cream cheese, icing sugar, vanilla and chopped walnuts.
