Baby Buggy Cake Recipe

by Joe R.
(Dallas, Texas)

My grandmother called this Baby Buggy Cake. She sometimes used whole wheat flour, sometimes a 50/50 mix of whole wheat and white flour, and sometimes she added raisins. And no, I don't know why she called it that. Does anybody out there have or remember an elderly relative who referred to "Baby Buggy Cake?"

2.5-3 cups flour
1-1.5 cups crushed graham crackers(use plain, not sugar sprinkled type)
2 cups brown sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1-2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup butter or margarine
3 eggs
1-2 cups water or milk

Mix the flour, eggs and milk(or water) and beat for about 2 minutes. Then fold in the rest of the ingredients and keep mixing until it looks right and fully mixed.

Cook approximately 1 hr at 350 degrees F in a covered roaster-type pan.
