Alien Head Cake
I made this alien cake for my boyfriend's 35th birthday but it would also make a great cake for a UFO buff of any age! It would also make a great addition to a space-themed children's party.
The cake was made from a boxed Betty Crocker cake mix and decorated with canned white icing that I dyed green with food coloring. I used a tube of black icing, which can be purchased at any grocery store, to make the eyes, nose, and mouth.
To give the cake a shiney, glowing look I sprinkled green edible paper-thin flakes that can be purchased in the cake section of any craft store. However, the cake will still look great without them if you are unable to find them at your local craft store. Or you could use green sugar as well.
In order to get the oval shape of the alien head, I used a heart shaped pan and then cut off the humps at the top of the heart. It is very easy to make and decorate you are sure to impress your party guests!
Editor's Note: Thanks, Karen. It came out really nice and your detailed description on how to make it will help others create the perfect cake for the UFO buff in their family.
