Frog Cake
This cake was made in ONLY 1 1/2 days (record time) for a VERY Special Young lady at our church who is graduating from college. She was 1 of the 1st bus kids at our church over 17 years ago, and is now graduating from college. So after doing a little research to find out what all she liked, this is what I came up with...
The cake is a basic french vanilla cake... BUT when I baked the cake I placed cupcake cups in the batter, so that when it baked it would have 6 round cup holes in the cake, which I filled with cheesecake pudding in and on the top of each layer after the cake cooled.
Then there is a thin layer of buttercream icing around the cake to hold the vanilla flavored fondant on the cake.
The brown "ground" part on top of the cake is left over parts of the cake, topped with chocolate icing, then with brown tinted fondant.
The frogs are Rice Crispy treats covered with fondant.
The "lake" is fondant with a light coating of blue tinted icing to make it look more like water.
Overall I was pleased with the out come of this cake concidering the LACK of EXPERIENCE that I have. But most importantly she seemed to be very surprised, and excited about the cake!
